General meeting: First Saturday of every month at 10 am on Zoom. Short business meeting followed by a guest speaker or readings by our members.
Poetry Pod: For writers who enjoy creating and listening to poetry. Our Poetry Pod group is a chapter within the Florida State Poets Association.
There are two Poetry Pod groups. Poetry Pod by Night is on the second Wednesday of every month, 6:30 PM, via Zoom. The Poetry Pod by Day is on the second Friday of every month, 10:00 AM, via Zoom. Currently, the Friday group is full.
Long Writers: This is a small, in-depth critique group for members who are writing longer prose works (or a collection of short works), either fiction or non-fiction. Members of this group share their work in advance and offer suggestions to each other.
There are two Long Writers groups. Long Writers I is on the second Saturday of every month, 10:00 AM, via Zoom. It is currently full. Long Writers II is on the third Sunday of every month, 4:00 PM, via Zoom.
Short Story Forum: The Short Story Forum is held on the third Saturday of every month. 10 a.m. – noon, via Zoom. Writers share their stories in advance and receive feedback on their work, with opportunities to read aloud to the group. We also discuss elements of short fiction writing such as character, plot, theme, etc. and offer advice and encouragement.
Reader’s Workshop: Third Saturday of every month, 10:15 AM at the Jacaranda Library. It is open to the public. The address is 4143 Woodmere Park Blvd, Venice, FL 34293
Participants may read up to 1000 words or 2 poems and are encouraged to comment on other's work.
